Sweet Life

Hello everyone! I am Lia and I am here today with a new mixed media project. I worked in my art journal this time. There are very few sweets that I like and ice-cream is just my favourite! You can see a lot of it in this project! Let’s start with the materials I used:

Materials

For my background, I started by treating my page with white gesso. Then I used the Stamperia Garlands stencil with Ranger Texture Crackle Paste. I concentrated the stencil design on the top left and the bottom right corners. Once the Paste was dry, I used the Lindy’s Magical pigment powders to add colour. I simply springled the powders on my page and then sprayed water all over them. I used the colours Delphinium Turquoise, French Lilac Violet and Polite People Purple. When the colours were dry I used my finger to apply some gesso in the middle of my page. I just wanted to lighten up the colours a little bit. And with that, the background was ready!

For my focal points, I chose this really sweet stamp set from Picket Fence called “Ice Cream You Scream”. I thought about colouring the designs with alcohol markers but then I changed my mind. So, first I cut down small panels of watercolour paper. Then I chose some nice Distress Oxide ink colours. Those were Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral, Lumberjack Plaid, Cracked Pistachio and Ground Espresso. I used the ink smooshing technique to colour my panels with my inks and then I dried them very well. I stamped some of the ice-cream images from the stamp set on my watercolour panels with Versafine Black ink and I cut them out. I really like how all the detail is already there without needing any highlights. The paper is coloured irregularly and that already creates a lot of visual texture. I put all the pieces together and attached them on my page.

For my sentiment I used two Alphabet sets. The bigger letters are cut with the Sizzix Alphanumeric Varsity Thinlits set and the smaller letters are cut with a Craft Emotions Alphabet dies set. I used the same watercoloured panels as for my images to cut my letter out of. The sentiment says “Life it Hard. Make it Sweet” and I could not agree more!!!

And that was the project for today! It might look a little different that usual but, please, excuse me! I have been sick the whole week and I don’t seem to be getting better. I find that I am a little less careful than usual. Hopefully, I will be better soon. The first thing I will do then is have some ice-cream!!! I really hope you like today’s project! Hallo zusammen! Ich bin Lia und ich bin heute mit einem neuen Mixed-Media-Projekt hier. Diesmal habe ich an meinem Kunstjournal gearbeitet. Es gibt nur sehr wenige Süßigkeiten, die ich mag, und Eis ist einfach mein Favorit! Davon kann man in diesem Projekt viel sehen! Beginnen wir mit den Materialien, die ich verwendet habe:

Für meinen Hintergrund habe ich damit begonnen, meine Seite mit weißem Gesso zu behandeln. Dann habe ich die Stamperia Garlands-Schablone mit Ranger Texture Crackle Paste verwendet. Ich habe das Schablonendesign auf die obere linke und die untere rechte Ecke konzentriert. Sobald die Paste trocken war, habe ich Lindy’s Magical-Pigmentpulver in den Farben Delphinium Turquoise, French Lilac Violet und Polite People Purple verwendet. Ich habe die Pulver einfach auf meine Seite gestreut und sie dann mit Wasser besprüht. Als die Farben trocken waren, habe ich mit dem Finger etwas Gesso in der Mitte meiner Seite aufgetragen. Ich wollte die Farben nur etwas aufhellen. Und damit war der Hintergrund fertig!

Für meine Schwerpunkte habe ich dieses wirklich süße Stempelset von Picket Fence mit dem Titel „Ice Cream You Scream“ ausgewählt. Ich habe erwogen, die Motive mit Alkoholmarkern auszumalen, habe mich dann aber für Distress Oxide Tinten entschieden. Also habe ich zuerst kleine Stücke Aquarellpapier zu Panelen geschnitten. Dann habe ich einige schöne Farben ausgewählt: Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral, Lumberjack Plaid, Cracked Pistachio und Ground Espresso. Ich habe meine Panele mithilfe der Ink-Smooshing-Technik mit meinen Tinten koloriert und sie anschließend gründlich getrocknet. Einige der Eiscremebilder aus dem Stempelset habe ich mit Versafine Black-Tinte auf meine Aquarellpanele gestempelt und ausgeschnitten. Mir gefällt wirklich, dass alle Details bereits vorhanden sind, ohne dass noch Highlights nötig sind. Das Papier ist unregelmäßig gefärbt und dadurch entsteht bereits viel visuelle Struktur. Ich habe alle Teile zusammengestellt und auf meiner Seite angehängt.

Für meinen Spruch habe ich zwei Alphabet-Sets verwendet. Die größeren Buchstaben werden mit dem Sizzix Alphanumeric Varsity Thinlits-Set ausgeschnitten und die kleineren Buchstaben werden mit einem Craft Emotions Alphabet-Stanzformen-Set ausgeschnitten. Zum Ausschneiden meines Briefes habe ich dieselben aquarellierten Panele wie für meine Bilder verwendet. Der Spruch lautet „Das Leben ist hart. Mach es süß“ und ich kann nur zustimmen!!!

Und das war mein Projekt für heute! Es sieht vielleicht etwas anders aus als sonst, aber bitte entschuldigt mich! Ich war die ganze Woche krank und es scheint mir nicht besser zu gehen. Ich finde, dass ich etwas weniger vorsichtig bin als sonst. Hoffentlich geht es mir bald besser. Das Erste, was ich dann tun werde, ist ein Eis zu essen!!!
