It’s not happening today

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another mixed media project. For today, I prepared a sea themed project. I was aiming for something funny, with a lot of colour and texture! Let’s start with the materials I used:

For today’s project I worked in a book with watercolor paper because I knew I would be using a lot of wet mediums. The first thing I did was to cover my pages with Gesso. Gesso protects the pages and provides a nice surface to work on. The next step was to add colour to the background. I used Distress Oxide Sprays in colours Vintage Photo, Chipped Sapphire, Stormy Sky and Salvaged Patina. I sprayed with the inks, sprayed with water, let the colours move and mix, dabbed of the excess and then I dried the background. I also sprayed some colour through the Hive Layering Stencil, but it is not so visible in the end. It was time to use my Ranger Texture Crackle Paste. I used the Spots Layering Stencil with the Crackle Paste and I tried to create something that could be bubbles. After that layer of Crackle Paste dried, I added some more, this time using just the spatula and trying to create waves. I left everything to dry and then I used the Uncharted Mariner Distress Spritz, to add some shiny splatter. I love Distress Spritz! It looks like a hidden treasure in the project. It is not really visible until the light hits it and then it sparkles so beautifully! And because I never really know where to stop, I decided to add some stamping as well. I used some stamps from the Tim Holtz The Obscure stamp set with VersaFine Clair Blue Belle ink and added a little bit more visual texture. I splattered everything with Picket Fence Distress Paint and my background was done!

Time to prepare my images! I have seen somewhere in the internet the cartoon image of a Walrus bathing in a barrel and I found it very funny. So, I decided to try building an image similar to that. I used the Sizzix Under The Sea #2, Colorize Thinlits set and a lot of little, colourful scraps of cardstock and I cut the parts of the Walrus, the crabs, the turtles and the fishes. I added some shadows on the pieces, using Vintage Photo Distress ink and then I put everything together. The barrel is cut with the Sizzix Potted #2 Bigz set out of beige cardstock. I cut it to make it a little shorter and then I coloured it, using Brushed Corduroy, Ground Espresso, Scorched Timber and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks. To add some rusty colour to the binder of the barrel, I chose the Mined Foundry Wax. If you have never used Foundry Wax, it is a wonderful product, but you need to know that it needs to be heat set, otherwise it dries and turns into something like powder. I heat set the Foundry Wax, put the barrel together and then I added a small, black Idea-Ology Droplet from the Halloween pack, to act as a barrel nail. I arranged my images on the pages and I added some Gold Stickles on the lures of the angelfishes. For the foam of the barrel, I used a combination of bandage cloth and Crackle Paste. I wanted the texture of the Crackle Paste but I wanted it to remain white. The Ranger Texture Crackle Paste absorbs the colour from underneath it. The cloth prevented that from happening.

My sentiment comes from the Idea-Ology Small Talk Snarky Sticker Book. I chose a white stripe, cut it in half and tinted the pieces with a little bit of Vintage Photo Distress ink. The sentiment says “If it requires pants or a bra, it’s not happening today”. I think everyone feels like that on hot summer days! I placed the sentiment on my project and then I decided to add more on the background. I used the White Opal Liquid Pearls and created more waves. In the end, I used some Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink to darken the edges of my pages.

And that was the project for today! I ended up with very inky fingers, but I had so much fun!!! I love the sea and it is always exciting to create sea themed projects. Hallo zusammen! Willkommen zurück zu einem weiteren Mixed-Media Projekt. Für heute habe ich ein Projekt vorbereitet, das von Luise Heinzl inspiriert ist, einer Junk-Journal Künstlerin, die mir sehr gefällt. Ich habe andere Farben und Formen verwendet, aber die Grundidee stammt von Luise. Beginnen wir mit den Materialien, die ich verwendet habe:

Für das heutige Projekt habe ich in einem Buch mit Aquarellpapier gearbeitet, weil ich wusste, dass ich viele nasse Medien verwenden würde. Als Erstes habe ich meine Seiten mit Gesso bedeckt. Gesso schützt die Seiten und bietet eine schöne Oberfläche zum Arbeiten. Der nächste Schritt bestand darin, dem Hintergrund Farbe zu verleihen. Ich habe Distress Oxide Sprays in den Farben Vintage Photo, Chipped Sapphire, Stormy Sky und Salvaged Patina verwendet. Ich habe mit den Tinten gesprüht, mit Wasser besprüht, die Farben sich bewegen und vermischen lassen, den Überschuss abgetupft und dann den Hintergrund getrocknet. Ich habe auch etwas Farbe durch die Hive Layering Stencil gesprüht, aber das ist am Ende nicht so sichtbar. Es war Zeit, meine Ranger Texture Crackle Paste zu verwenden. Ich habe die Spots Layering Stencil mit der Crackle Paste verwendet und versucht, etwas zu erzeugen, das Blasen sein könnten. Nachdem diese Schicht Crackle Paste getrocknet war, habe ich noch etwas hinzugefügt, diesmal nur mit dem Spachtel und versucht, Wellen zu erzeugen. Ich ließ alles trocknen und fügte dann mit dem Uncharted Mariner Distress Spritz ein paar glänzende Spritzer hinzu. Ich liebe Distress Spritz! Es sieht aus wie ein versteckter Schatz im Projekt. Es ist nicht wirklich sichtbar, bis das Licht darauf fällt und dann funkelt es so schön! Und weil ich nie wirklich weiß, wann es genug ist, habe ich beschlossen, auch noch etwas zu stempeln. Ich habe einige Stempel aus dem Tim Holtz The Obscure Stempelset mit VersaFine Clair Blue Belle Tinte verwendet und ein wenig mehr visuelle Textur hinzugefügt. Ich habe alles mit Picket Fence Distress Paint bespritzt und mein Hintergrund war fertig!

Zeit, meine Bilder vorzubereiten! Ich habe irgendwo im Internet das Cartoon Bild eines Walrosses gesehen, das in einem Fass badet, und fand es sehr lustig. Also habe ich beschlossen, ein ähnliches Bild zu erstellen. Ich habe das Sizzix Under The Sea #2, das Colorize Thinlits Set und viele kleine, bunte Kartonreste verwendet und die Teile des Walrosses, der Krabben, der Schildkröten und der Fische ausgeschnitten. Ich habe den Teilen mit Vintage Photo Distress Tinte einige Schatten hinzugefügt und dann alles zusammengesetzt. Das Fass ist mit dem Sizzix Potted #2 Bigz-Set aus beigem Karton ausgeschnitten. Ich habe es zurechtgeschnitten, um es etwas kürzer zu machen, und es dann mit Brushed Corduroy, Ground Espresso, Scorched Timber und Black Soot Distress Oxide Tinten koloriert. Um dem Fassbinder etwas rostige Farbe zu verleihen, habe ich das Mined Foundry Wax gewählt. Falls ihr noch nie Foundry Wax verwendet habt: Es ist ein wunderbares Produkt, aber ihr sollt jedoch wissen, dass es mit Hitze fixiert werden muss, da es sonst trocknet und sich in etwas Pulverartiges verwandelt. Ich habe das Foundry Wax mit Hitze fixiert, das Fass zusammengesetzt und dann einen kleinen schwarzen Idea-Ology Droplet aus dem Halloween Paket hinzugefügt, der als Fassnagel dient. Ich habe meine Bilder auf den Seiten angeordnet und einige Gold Stickles auf die Köder der Kaiserfische geklebt. Für den Schaum des Fasses habe ich eine Kombination aus Verbandsmull und Crackle Paste verwendet. Ich wollte die Textur der Crackle Paste, aber ich wollte sie weiß zu bleiben. Die Ranger Texture Crackle Paste nimmt die Farbe von unten auf. Das Tuch hat das verhindert.

Mein Spruch stammt aus dem Idea-Ology Small Talk Snarky Sticker Book. Ich habe einen weißen Streifen gewählt, ihn in zwei Hälften geschnitten und die Stücke mit etwas Vintage Photo Distress Tinte eingefärbt. Der Spruch lautet: „Wenn es Hosen oder einen BH erfordert, passiert es heute nicht.“ Ich glaube, an heißen Sommertagen geht es jedem so! Ich habe den Spruch auf mein Projekt gelegt und dann beschlossen, mehr auf den Hintergrund zu geben. Ich habe die White Opal Liquid Pearls verwendet und mehr Wellen erzeugt. Zum Schluss habe ich etwas Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Tinte verwendet, um die Ränder meiner Seiten abzudunkeln.

Und das war das Projekt für heute! Ich hatte am Ende sehr tintenverschmierte Finger, aber es hat mir so viel Spaß gemacht!!! Ich liebe das Meer und es ist immer spannend, Projekte mit Meeresmotiven zu gestalten. Ich hoffe sehr, dass euch das Projekt gefällt! Ich hoffe, ihr habt euch inspirieren lassen!
